This past weekend I dusted off my RV Rambler travel bug necklace and wore it while pursuing the treasures at the Quartzsite RV Show. I walked around among thousands of people for two days with the TB hanging on a chain around my neck. I knew there had to be some geocachers among the many RV folk as it is a popular sport of RVers. In very quick order, a gentleman manning a booth noticed and called his geocacher wife over to nail me. They were manning the Escapees booth and helped to hook me up with the Geocaching BOF (Birds Of a Feather) which is currently in the area off Pomosa Road in Quartzsite for a geocaching gathering and activities.
I walked around the Big Tent a bit more and got spotted again by another husband with a geocacher wife.
Later, we went over to The Main Event area to check out the deals over there. As I stood exhausted and deciding whether to return to the car, a woman eating ice cream on the other side of a fence started calling to me. She pointed at my neck and asked me if I was a travel bug. Nailed again!
I loved reading the logs they posted later at game headquarters at http://geocaching.com . They got a kick out of finding a human travel bug which is hard to do since we move around and you just have to stumble across us by accident. I will continue to wear the necklace until the show is over and I guess I should put the TB decal on my SUV now for others to find as well. I have had it for some time but keep forgetting to put it on. Oops!
